Abstract

This study was conducted to understand the relationship between cognitive factors and ESG practices (Environmental, Social, Governance) in Vietnamese commercial banks. From survey data of 309 individuals working at Vietnamese commercial banks in Hanoi and the North of Vietnam from October to December 2022. Through evaluating the suitability of the measurement model and testing the linear structural model PLS-SEM, the research results show that these factors given in the model all have a significant positive impact, that is: (1) Awareness of Customer Protection has a positive impact on environmental performance, governance (E&G), (2) Anti-Corruption Awareness and (3)Environmental Awareness has a positive impact on Environmental, Social and Governance Practices (ESG), (4) Labor Rights Awareness has an impact to Environmental Practices (E). Based on the research results, the article proposes some recommendations to improve the awareness and practice of ESG in Vietnamese commercial banking, contributing to strengthening and promoting sustainable finance.
