Abstract

This paper focuses on studying the influence of terrain to the aerodynamic characteristics of helicopter main rotor. The model main rotor-fuselage is used for investigation that is based on an unsteady nonlinear vortex-lattice method and the results from it are in good agreement with data of other works. The terrain surface is simulated in this paper has different complex shapes and areas, therefore creating different influences on the lifting characteristics of the helicopters main rotor. The numerical results are consistent with the theory of helicopter aerodynamics.
