Abstract

ABSTRACT CLINICAL FEATURES AND COST OF ASTHMA TREATMENT AT THE OUTPATIENTS MANAGEMENT UNIT OF CHRONIC PULMONOLOGY DEPARTMENT, DONG DA GENERAL HOSPITAL IN 2020 Introduction: Central airway stenosis is an increasingly common disease in clinical practice which caused by many different causes. The disease is often misdiagnosed with other diseases until detected, the patients are often at a severe level. Objectives: 1) Describe the clinical, subclinical, and causes of central airway narrowing at the Respiratory Center - Bach Mai Hospital. 2) Comments on the treatment’s results at central airway stenosis due to benign etiology at the Respiratory Center - Bach Mai Hospital. Participants and Methods: An cross-sectional descriptive study on 53 patients with confirmed central airway stenosis at the Respiratory Center of Bach Mai Hospital from June 2019 to June 2021. Results: The mean age of the study patients was 56,51 ± 18,236. The most common reason for admission: shortness of breath (97.9%). The most common clinical symptom: dyspnea (98,1%), tracheal stridor (92,5%). On MSCT and flexible bronchoscopy, the ability to detect airway narrowing is 100%. Causes of central airway narrowing are benign 69,8%, malignant 30,2%. Results of treatment on 20 patients with central airway stenosis due to benign etiology showed: 95,0% have improvement in dyspnea symptoms and 5,0% still have tracheal stridor. Conclusion: The most common clinical symptom in patients with central airway stenosis is dyspnea (98,1%) and tracheal stridor (92,5%). Results after treatment 95,0% of patients improved dyspnea and 95,0% of clinical tracheal stridor. Keywords: central airway obstruction, interventional bronchoscopy
