Abstract

Plants interact with numerous pathogenic and beneficial bacteria. In this issue of Cell Host & Microbe, Karasov etal. (2018) and Garrido-Oter etal. (2018) use NextGen sequencing and data analysis from more than 2,000 bacterial genomes to draw hypotheses about interactions and evolution of microbes with their plant hosts.
