Abstract

The lives of around a million older people may be put at risk because they are not getting basic care and support at home and there are too few places in residential care, according to a survey from the Social Policy Ageing and Information Network (SPAIN). The organization is an umbrella group of 21 charities and pressure groups, including Help the Aged, Age Concern and the Alzheimer's Society. Their report suggests that ‘social care is in crisis’.
