Abstract

New developments in the ion experiments at ASTRID are discussed with highlights of recent results. Also the major new technical developments are discussed, including construction of a small electrostatic ring for ion storage, ELISA, and a new ring for production of synchrotron radiation from 1.4 GeV electrons. The latter will make ASTRID available full time for ion storage and allow a reconstruction into a ring with eightfold symmetry, which will be much better suited for laser cooling experiments.
