Abstract

GUELPH NOTESJohn D. McConachie retired from the Department of Poultry Science, University of Guelph, on March 31. He graduated from the University of Toronto (Ontario Agricultural College) with a B.S.A. degree in 1933. In 1934 he enrolled in the Poultry Specialists Course at the Ontario Agricultural College.In 1935 he was employed by F. W. Bray Hatcheries, Ltd., as Hatchery Manager for one of the several branch hatcheries within the organization. In 1936 he became a Fieldman for the Bray organization and continued in this position until 1947 when he joined the staff of the Department of Poultry Science at the Ontario Agricultural College as a Poultry Inspector and Extension Worker.In 1952 he assumed full responsibility for the Departments’ hatchery, and was also responsible for extension and advisory work in hatching management, incubation and fertility.
