Abstract

In Newman-Penrose formalism, the ten independent components of the Weyl tensor can be expressed in terms of five complex scalars Ψ r (r = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4). By a suitable choice of the tetrad, we have expressed these scalars in terms of the electric part Eij and magnetic part Hij of the Weyl tensor. The results thus obtained are then applied to Gödel spacetime.
