Abstract

The infrared emission spectrum of Se i has been observed in the lead sulfide region for the first time. Microwave-excited selenium electrodeless-discharge sources with argon and krypton carrier gases were used. A 1-m Czerny–Turner scanning spectrometer with three different gratings blazed for 1,2.5, and 4 μm was used. A liquid-nitrogen-cooled lead sulfide detector was employed with the usual amplifying and recording accessories. Neon, argon, krypton, and xenon standard lines were used for calibration. The observations resulted in the wavelength measurements of 148 lines in the region 1–3.5 μm and of these, 118 lines are classified as transitions among known energy levels.
