Abstract

In case you hadn’t noticed, JEVS is now published by W.B. Saunders. Veterinarians recognize Saunders as the leading publisher of veterinary textbooks. Saunders was purchased by the giant publishing company Elsevier. Elsevier also purchased Mosby, a company specializing in veterinary books and periodicals. Now Elsevier has developed “Your Premier Health Science Information Source,” which includes not only Mosby and Saunders but also Churchill Livingston and Butterworth-Heinemann and books and periodicals under the Elsevier name. The entire list (hundreds) of health science periodicals, including JEVS, can be accessed on-line at www.mosby.com/periodicals. You can also access the new JEVS web site with the old URL, www.j-evs.com. The new JEVS web site allows a choice of viewing in traditional HTML or in PDF format. The PDF format is viewed with Adobe’s Acrobat Reader, which can be downloaded free of charge. The PDFversion shows the page as it actually looks in hard copy, including the ads. The HTML version is copy only with figures and illustrations. The advantage of the HTML version is that it makes word searches possible. The home page for JEVS now has access to many related topics. You can order reprints, subscribe, get permission to reuse material, and access author’s guidelines. Back issues are available on-line from January 2000. There is a guided tour available on-line to show you how to access all the valuable resources offered on-line by Elsevier. Take the opportunity now to check out this web site. Access to all the articles is free to everyone for the rest of this year. Next year you will need to be a paid subscriber to gain full access to articles. The contents and abstracts will continue to be free to everyone.
