Abstract

Abstract Low molecular weight polyethylene oxides were modified and a series of low molecular weight, surface-active polymers were obtained. the use of the newly derived polymers to enhance oil recovery is discussed. Viscosity of the polymers' aqueous solutions, their surface activity, and their miscibility with an oil phase are also discussed. Such low molecular weight, surface-active polymers are found to be thermally and mechanically stable and are useful in increasing oil recovery during water flooding operations.
