Abstract

This article announces that Scottish Water has built a new water treatment works (WTW) at Glencorse in Midlothian as part of the Edinburgh (Scotland) Drinking Water Project, a strategic program of capital investment to build a new facility and replace aging mains and storage tanks providing water to Edinburgh and surrounding areas. Glencorse WTW will be a twenty‐first‐century replacement to the existing WTW, which has served the city for more than 100 years, and will deliver up to 175 million liters of water per day, meeting strict European guidelines on drinking water quality.
