  • Thanks to the British North America Act of 1867, responsibility for health care belongs to the provinces and territories

  • The quadrivalent conjugated meningococcal vaccine, human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccine for females and rotavirus vaccine were all licensed at approximately the same time in Canada, and there are currently two brands of each vaccine available

  • The HPV vaccine has subsequently been licensed for use in males. All of these vaccines appear to have high efficacy in the short term, concerns about waning titres from the quadrivalent conjugated meningococcal vaccine have resulted in the introduction of a routine second dose for adolescents in the United States (1)
