Abstract

A variety of half esters were prepared by the reaction of phthalic anhydride or maleic anhydride with adducts of ethylene oxide to alkylphenol formaldehyde resin. Aqueous solutions of triethanolamine salts of these half esters have the good characteristics of water-based cutting fluids such as anti-rust, antiwear and anti-bacterial deterioration effects.
