Abstract

The proposed tree structure for image coding exploits the similarity between hierarchical bands of the wavelet transform. Each node has a height attribute and the tree structure is represented as a conditional height difference to remove the statistical dependency between hierarchical nodes. For the 512 × 512 Lena image, the result shows above 40 dB at 1 bit/pixel.
