Abstract

ABSTRACT A new tool has been developed to make it easier to run casing in long sections of high-angle and horizontal boreholes. The key element in the system is a telescope joint integrated in the casing string. By using the gravity force, hydraulic force and friction force, the two sections of the casing string can be moved separately step by step to the target. Calculations show that the running length of the casing string can be increased significantly in long sections of high-angle boreholes.
