Abstract

The authors prove that changes in photocarrier concentration can be observed optically, when low-frequency modulated illumination is used. Changes in the photocarrier concentration cause variations of the carrier thermal conductivity which are detected by a thermoacoustic contactless technique using a one-arm optical bridge. The effect of illumination intensity on the thermoacoustic signal in CdS was studied.
