Abstract

Several methods of lowering the background in germanium double-beta decay experiments are discussed. A technique for increasing confidence in double-beta decay measurements by variation of detector enrichment is demonstrated in the case of the two-neutrino decay mode of 76Ge. The impact of cosmic ray spallation in low-background isotopically enriched germanium detectors is examined.
