Abstract

For many years,maxillary width discrepancies have been corrected inpediatric patients solely by orthodontic therapies,such as slow orthodontic expansion (SOE) and rapidpalatal expansion (RPE), and in adult patients by sur-gical treatments such as surgically assisted rapid pal-atal expansion (SARPE) and 2-segment Le Fort I-typeosteotomy with expansion (LFI-E).
