Abstract

EVEN A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO, THE juxtaposition of British chemical giant ICI and the FiFi awards—the Oscars of the fragrance industry—would have seemed absurd. But no more. This year, ICI's chief executive officer, Brendan O'Neill, has a particular reason to be pleased with the FiFi awards: One of ICFs divisions—Quest International, which produces flavors and fragrances—supplied the formulation for the fine perfume J'Adore by Christian Dior. And when J'Adore won one of the fragrance categories in this year's 29th annual awards at Radio City Music Hall in New York City last month, Dior executives praised Quest as the creative talent behind the fragrance. As Jean-Pierre Houri, head of Quest's fragrance division, put it, is a great honor to be associated with the success of J'Adore.
