Abstract

Abstract The known distribution of the army ant Neivamyrmex texanus in the United States is limited to eight southern and western states. The range of N. texanus is extended to Oklahoma. Neivamyrmex texanus is the known host of only two symbionts. I report for the first time a parasitic phorid fly, Cremersia adunca, and include a brief description of the defensive behavior of the army ants to this aerial parasite.
