Abstract

Two new spectrophotometric techniques have been proposed for the quantification of Trifluridine in pharmaceutical dosage forms. Trifluridine is an antiviral drug. Double beam UV-VIS spectrophotometer (SHIMADZU Model UV-1800) was used for the present study. Zero-order and first-order spectrophotometric techniques have been developed for the determination of Trifluridine in methanol, water, phosphate buffer (pH: 2.0, 4.0, 7.0), NaOH and borate buffer (pH 9.0). Trifluridine has shown linearity over the concentration range 10–80 μg/ml for methanol, water, phosphate buffer pH 7.0 and 10–100 μg/ml for phosphate buffer (pH 2.0, 4.0), NaOH, borate buffer (pH 9.0) respectively and the methods were validated as per ICH guidelines. The proposed methods are simple, economical and can be successfully applied for the estimation of Trifluridine in pharmaceutical dosage forms.
