Abstract

One species of Caralluma, C. wilhelmii Thulin, and two species of Ceropegia, C. kaariyei Thulin and C. gypsophila Thulin, from the Somali National Regional State (Ogaden) of Ethiopia, are described and illustrated. Caralluma wilhelmii is compared with the eastern African C. priogonium K. Schum. and its relatives, whereas Ceropegia kaariyei is compared with C. laikipiensis Masinde from Kenya. Ceropegia gypsophila is closely related to and compared with C. sandersonii Decne. ex Hook. f. in southern Africa.
