Abstract

ABSTRACT Four new species of the family Pseudocrangonyctidae from the Russian Far East are described and illustrated – Pseudocrangonyx spangsbergi sp. nov. and P. setosus sp. nov., both in Sakhalinskaya Oblast; P. myaochanicus sp. nov., in Khabarovsky Kray; and P. borealis sp. nov., in Magadanskaya Oblast. The affinities of the new species are discussed. New morphological data and DNA barcode data are also provided for Pseudocrangonyx camtschaticus Birstein, 1955, from a population adjacent to the type locality. The overall morphology of the genus Pseudocrangonyx was revisited using scanning electron microscopy, which revealed cellular (hexagonal) cuticular microsculpture of the body surface. The species diversity and geographic distribution of the East Asian stygobiotic pseudocrangonyctid amphipods are briefly reviewed. An identification key to the genus Pseudocrangonyx, with 31 species, is provided. http://www.zoobank.org/urn:lsid:zoobank.org:pub:EB2A6400-0333-496B-8345-68C1ECEF06A4
