Abstract

A new class of linear codes is constructed by a shortening of the binary extended quadratic residue (EQR) codes. It is shown that the error-control rate of each such code is better than the rate of the corresponding binary EQR codes. An algorithm for finding the generator matrices of this code is given, as well as a decoding scheme.
