Abstract

Strontium titanate (SrTiO3) nanoparticles were effectively synthesized by a new route using strontium salt as novel strontium nitrate tetrahydrate source and tetra-n-butyl titanate (TNBT) as titanium source. The effect different acids such as salicylic acid, oxalic acid, and cinnamic acid on the morphology and size of strontium titanate was investigated. Alternating gradient force magnetometer illustrated ferromagnetic behaviour of strontium titanate nanoparticles. The as-synthesized strontium titanate nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray microanalysis, scanning electron microscopy, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV–Vis), and energy dispersive X-ray diffraction. The photocatalytic behaviour of strontium titanate nanoparticles was evaluated using the degradation of methyl orange under ultraviolet light irradiation.
