Abstract
Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) occurs sporadically in 75% and autosomal dominantly inherited in 25%. For the latter there are currently more than 150 different RET genotypes recorded in the MEN2 RET database of the University of Utah. For the known RET Mutations 4 different risk levels for RET mutations have been distinguished as a guide to plan surgical treatment.
