Abstract

The production of heavy flavouredbaryons, Λ c + and Λ b 0 has been studied in pp interactions at the ISR. Both baryons are observed in the forward region, for x F ≥ 0.35. The results confirm the heavy baryon production to be governed by the “leading hadron” effect. The cross-section for ( DΛ c +) associated production has been estimated with various hypotheses concerning the possible charm production mechanisms. A preliminary cross-section value is also given for ( BΛ b 0) production.
