Abstract

Abstract The usual assumption that the reorientational and vibrational motions of the molecules under study are statistically uncorrelated and that the vibrational band profiles in IR, isotropic and anisotropic Raman are identical for the same vibrational mode leads to contradictory results in studies of molten salt dynamics. The conclusion was made that inconsistency of these data may be eliminated when the coupling of vibrational and rotational dephasing is taken into account.
