Abstract

The existence of a new region of deformation for nuclei with Z∼11 and N≥20 results from microscopic calculations. Using the quasiparticle Lagrangean method the S2n and 〈r2〉 values for Na isotopes were calculated. Due to single‐particle levels splitting the strong deformation may change the neutron binding energy and the position of neutron drip‐line. Also the ground‐state parity may be changed that leads to decrease of the β‐delayed neutron emission probabilities and to the sharp decrease of T1/2 value in N‐rich Na isotopes.
