Abstract

Abstract In zooplankton samples, collected during the ARK XII cruise of RV Polarstern in the northern Kara Sea and the ARKTIKA-98 cruise of RV Akademik Fedorov in the northern Barents Sea, eight specimens of the pelagic carnivorous polychaete, Phalacrophorus pictus borealis Reibisch, 1895 were found in July 1996 and October 1998, respectively. This new record of the subspecies remarkably extends its known distribution area within the Arctic Ocean. The good condition of the material has allowed giving the new, more detailed description of the subspecies.
