Abstract

AbstractNew records of clearwing moths (Sesiidae) from Australia are presented.Trilochana smaragdinaDiakonoff 1954was known only from a single female from West Papua (Irian Jaya). This species is redescribed here on the basis of a series of males recently collected in Queensland. It is the first record of the tribe Sesiini and the genusTrilochanafor Australia. Males of another species,Nokona carulifera(Hampson 1919) comb. n., have been found for the first time at the same locality and are also characterised here.Nokona coracodes(Turner 1922) comb. n. is restored from synonymy. The genusPseudosesiaFelder 1861is redefined and restored from synonymy withParanthreneHübner [1819]. An updated checklist of the Sesiidae of Australia is presented.
