Abstract

A new laser plotter has been launched on the international market by DISC, Digitized Information Systems Corporation. The LP 70X laser plotter is eminently suitable for the design of printed circuits, where accuracy requirements are particularly high. The equipment will enable any PCB design department to streamline its work organisation with considerable cost savings. Efficiency within a design department will be increased as plotting time is many times shorter than with conventional photoplotters. With the LP 70X, plotting time is determined by the number of revolutions of the photo drum and by scanning resolution. The laser plotter uses a drum onto which a film is held by vacuum. In the exposure process, this drum rotates at a very high speed—at least 30 revolutions per second—while the entire film is being scanned by a laser spot by means of a linear air‐cushioned engine.
