Abstract
The Schonstedt Instrument Company's Model GA‐32 Magnetic Locator is designed for the detection of iron boundary markers, valve boxes, manhole covers, and other ferromagnetic objects. The locator consists of a probe and a set of headphones. The instrument contains two Schonstedt Heli‐Flux flux‐gate sensors spaced approximately 20 inches apart. The two sensors, which are precisely matched and aligned parallel, are connected such that their individual signals oppose each other. This arrangement minimizes the production of output signals due to the earth's magnetic field.
