Abstract

Many network topologies, for example mesh and cube, have been proposed for large multi-processor systems. In this paper we adopt the characteristics of load distribution across the system as the criterion to evaluate specific network topologies. We compare several interconnection schemes under some parallel processing model especially from this criterion and propose two new network topologies, namely, ‘Extended Cube Connected Cycles’ and ‘Logarithmically Connected Cycles’, as effectives methods for connecting a large number of processors.
