Abstract

The potentialities of ring lasers for examination of optical properties of substances are analyzed. It is shown that the use of ring lasers allows one not only to investigate the absorption properties of a substance but also to carry out precision measurements of the dispersion properties of the refractive index and absorption coefficient of a medium, as well as to measure its phase nonreciprocity and the value of nonreciprocal losses in the medium. The strategy of measurements is formulated in each individual case on the basis of calculations.
