Abstract

Most of iron-based superconductors depict the superconductivity by a suitable doping and control of the actual composition in these superconductors is always a challenge. In present chapter, the authors review about the superconducting properties and current progress of this new 1144 family with other families of iron-based superconductors. STM studies have also been done for other families of iron-based superconductors where disorder in the vortex lattice has been observed and studied. Iron-based superconductor cannot be deformed plastically due to its relatively hard and tough phase. In the direction of superconducting wire fabrication, one paper had been reported based on the ex-situ PIT method similar to that of the 1144 tape. Over the past decades, the 122 family has been the subject of extensive research in the fabrication process of wires and tapes. Recent studies on 1144 single crystals reveal highly improved superconducting properties as compared with those reported for the 122 family.
