Abstract

The fields of using a new generation of synchrotron radiation sources storage rings at an energy of 8–10 GeV are discussed. Much attention is paid to the problems whose solution opens the basically new possibilities: generation of pulsed beams of slow high brightness positrons, obtaining of powerful pulsed fluxes of neutrons, generation of quasimonochromatic gamma quanta. The ways and the bounds of further improving of such storage rings are considered.
