Abstract

Several phases of the TlSrVO system have been identified by TEM. TlSrVO 5 is orthorhombic ( a=5.79, b=7.46 and c=9.91 A ̊ ) coexisting with a minority phase, Tl 2Vi 1−xSr xO y, which has slightly different lattice parameters, a=6.17 and c=1028 A ̊ . Reduction tends to remove mos t of the Tl and the majority phase becomes Sr 3−xTl xV 2O y, which is monoclinic with a=5.64, b=7.72, c=9.8 A ̊ and α=112.6°. Tl 3V 2O x, being tetragonal with a=8.05 and c=19.03 A ̊ and probably isotructural Sr 3V 2O 7, is also discussed.
