Abstract

The popularity of disposable lenses has made them the first choice for monovision patients. On the other hand, asphericity has been rediscovered with a new generation of lenses to improve visual acuity and performance, especially in presbyopia (both monovision and aspheric multifocals). This study is designed to compare the refractive performance of disposable and aspheric lenses and the general preference in a presbyopic population. The results show that aspheric lenses outperform disposable lenses in near-vision performance and patient handling, all other parameters studied being equally achieved.
