Abstract

AbstractColocynthins A–C (1–3, resp.), new pentacyclic cucurbitane type triterpene glucosides, have been isolated from the AcOEt‐soluble fraction of the fruits of Citrullus colocynthis, along with three known compounds, β‐sitosterol 3‐O‐β‐D‐glucopyranoside, elaterinide, and bryoamaride. Their structures were determined on the basis of 1H‐ and 13C‐NMR spectra, DEPT, and COSY, NOESY, HMQC, and HMBC experiments.
