Abstract

DANIEL Patrick Moynihan, currently a Presidential advisor at the White House, has received wide publicity for his suggestion of a period of "benign neglect" of race relations in the United States. Some medicolegal experts seem to be giving similar advice regarding the legal problems surrounding the use of paramedical personnel. The American Medical Association legal staff, among others, seems prone to this point of view. Basically, this position is that we should not rash to the state legislatures with new licensure laws for the legitimization of the ill defined and still very few new classes of physician's assistants.
