Abstract

We report three new paramagnetic centers found in high-pressure synthetic diamond with high nitrogen and nickel content and annealed at 1600°C. Analysis of the spectra has shown that two of the centers, labeled AB1 and AB2, are related to systems with eVective spin S=1/2 and the other is related to a system with spin S=1 (AB5). All these centers have trigonal symmetry. The possible relation of these centers with nickel is discussed. © 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
