Abstract

A new organic twodimensional metal (ET)4 (Hg2Cl6·C6H5Cl) retaining its metallic state down to 1.5 K has been synthesized. It is characterized with the layer-like structure composed of layers of four crystallographically independent cation-radicals of ET and anion layers formed of (Hg2Cl6·C6H5Cl) dimers, solvent molecules being present in their composition. The dimers are interconnected into a centosymmetric fragment (Hg2Cl6·C6H5Cl)2.
