Abstract
Conditions of modular invariance in the heterotic string theories compactified on the orbifolds are derived. According to these conditions, several phenomenologically interesting models are given, among which we have six and two helicity − 1 2 family models with E 6 and E 7 gauge symmetries, respectively.
