Abstract

AbstractHerein we describe the development of microsatellite markers for five Catostomid species: Catostomus snyderi, Catostomus rimiculus, Chasmistes brevirostris, Deltistes luxatus, and Catostomus occidentalis. A total of 89 primer pairs were developed from enriched (CA)n and (GATA)n libraries created from the D. luxatus genome. The successful amplification of 82 polymorphic loci across three Catostomid genera indicates that the microsatellite markers described in this study will be broadly applicable.
