Abstract

In recent years, Virtual Production has become an accepted means to analyze the planning and the operation of manufacturing systems in industry. Engineers build up 3-D simulation models of plants but in many cases the manual creation of variants is too time-consuming and the automatic creation not possible at all. In this paper, we present different new methods that facilitate the creation of variants of plant models. The methods are implemented for an industrially relevant 3-D simulation tool. We show relevant applications which base on the new methods and which enable even non-simulation-experts to deal with plant model variants.
