Abstract

In this letter we report the experimental method for optimization mode-locking efficiency of Kerr-lens solid state lasers. The transmission of intracavity aperture, formed by Kerr-lens effect and hard or soft slits, may be written as: T= To + σ I, To-transmission for low intensity radiation, 1-instantaneous intracavity intensity, σ - nonlinear transmission coefficient. The maximum value of σ corresponds to most favorable conditions for pulse regime generation and determines the efficiency of mode locking. Usually σ was estimated by calculations for nondisturbed by slit mode structure approximation [1]. We propose experimental determination of σ and use this value for simultaneous space and time analysis of mode-locking regime.
