Abstract

1. A new method was proposed for the synthesis of arylthiols, which consists in the reaction of aryldiazonium fluoborates with thiourea and subsequent alkaline hydrolysis of the obtained S-arylisothiuronium fluoborate. 2. The arylthiols were also obtained by the thermal decomposition of S-arylisothiuronium bicarbonates. 3. The following arylthiols were obtained: 2-chlorothiophenol, 2,6-dichlorothiophenol, 1,4-phenylenedithiol, 2-chloro-l,4-phenylenedithiol, and also 4-nitrothiophenol, which was isolated as di-(4-nitrophenyl) disulfide.
