Abstract

Taking an approach by means of a special variable separation, some novel and interesting localized (3+1)-dimensional excitations, including embed-solitons, taper-like solitons, plateau-type solitons and rectangle-solitons, were revealed resulting from the intrusion of appropriate boundary conditions and/or initial qualifications. The properties of those localized excitations and their interactions were investigated in this study, showing some novel features and interesting behaviors. Furthermore, abundant (3+1)-dimensional localized excitations were also found in other types of nonlinear systems.
